I'm surprised Miami Vice wasn't listed there.

A plot of one of the Five-Zero episodes (the one about increasingly violent home invasion robberies) was lifted directly from a Miami Vice episode.

I also felt he used the "comically low-grade criminal who reluctantly helps out the cops" character from Miami Vice (Izzy Moreno) as the inspiration for Kamekona, though Kamekona eventually became a lot more legit over the years, whereas Izzy was always a shifty con man.

I suppose his great love for MAGNUM PI also explains his approach to Five-Faux. He definitely had that show in mind more than the original Five-O when he launched the remake back in 2010. Everything from the adolescent behavior of the main characters to some of the crazy stories and forced humor feels more like MAGNUM than FIVE-O. Except that this type of thing actually worked for a laid-back show like MAGNUM and the acting there was actually good (especially John Hillerman) which isn't the case with Five-Faux.

I also thought of Magnum when I saw Five-0.

There are many patriotic-type storylines which are reminiscent of Magnum, and of course the Hawaii setting is another thing it has in common.
