I can't say I will miss this character, who I found obnoxious, quirky and, with few exceptions, totally annoying.
by todd » Mon Dec 05, 2016 2:48 amI didn't dislike the Max character as much as you, but I found that they tried too hard with that character to give the show "geek cred", as if they were afraid geek types wouldn't be watching the show without seeing one of their own.
Other than that, the character was kinda... blah. Didn't annoy me, but also someone I won't miss when he's gone.
by ringfire211 » Tue Dec 06, 2016 1:22 pmI don't understand the appeal of geeky characters like this guy. Does anyone seriously find someone who acts like that cool or funny? Does anyone aspire to be like that in real life??? And unfortunately the answer to that question is YES (a sad reflection of the times we live in). Acting grown up is considered old-fashioned or boring while acting like a geek is considered hip and trendy. It's that whole hipster movement which I can't stand. That's why I keep reiterating that the old show at its worst will always be superior to the new show. You didn't find geeks like these on the old show. A time when men were men.
I shudder to think that we may come to a time when James Bond will be some geeky hipster type who isn't into the ladies at all, drinks some protein crap, and defeats all his enemies from behind a computer.
