Interesting comments from wright7700 at IMDB:
I would agree that Catherine's roller derby episode was one of the lowest of the entire series. I am just fine with the actress and the character, but she was best used in the first or second season as Steve's occasional love interest and not an integral or "in your face" part of the series.
Lenkov et al may have actually borrowed this roller derby plot line from a Charlie's Angels episode from 1976, where Farrah Fawcett went under cover in the same manner. We can do so much better.
There were 12 seasons of good stories to draw from in the original series, so I don't know why they used this trash.
Other low points:
1) Talk show host following the team around
2) Steven and Doris playing card tricks in an elevator shaft. Please.
3) Grover going nuts in his friend's house in Chicago.
4) Any episode where Imperioli seems to stand in for Scott Caan.If they hadn't gotten so far off track with the writing starting in Season 3, this thing would be bigger than NCIS now.
Cast A+
Scenery A+
Writing CWhen you consider all the other "flops" that CBS and other major networks have introduced since Hawaii 5-0 started in 2010, they better hold on to this one for dear life as long as they can!! 5-0 Reruns on Friday nights get higher ratings than many first run episodes of the flops. The widely haled Madame Secretary, Limitless, Supergirl, Scorpion, and NCIS:LA all draw lower ratings in better time slots.

In general, most TV shows which attempt to write stories around the roller derby culture end up with stupid episodes.
Roller derby just isn't that interesting.
It also has a high percentage of lesbian participants, which of course H50 completely ignored.
