Hi. I'd like to crowdsource identifying two episodes:
1) There was an episode (fourth or fifth season?) about Five-O investigating so-called "snuff films." All I recall was McGarrett saying to the boys that if they don't find the bad guys, there will be "murder on film."
2) Another episode from the same period that ends on a beach with a scuba diver collecting a ransom for a guy's kidnapped daughter. McGarrett offers to have an undercover officer substitute for the girl's father.
Help appreciated. Thanks in advance.
by H50 1.0 FOREVER » Fri Jun 16, 2017 8:03 pmThe second sounds like "The Capsule Kidnapping" (Season 8), except that a Japanese businessman's son (not daughter) was kidnapped. But, yes. Bruce Boxleitner's character approached the beach in SCUBA gear to collect the ransom. McGarrett offered to let a policeman take the money to the beach for the boy's father's protection. The boy's father said he would not be comfortable asking someone else to face danger that he, himself, was not willing to face.
Sorry. I can't help you with the first one.
by Jeff*H » Fri Jun 16, 2017 9:34 pmI think the first one may be S4's "Cloth of Gold".

by Mr. Mike » Sat Jun 17, 2017 8:04 amIt's not a snuff film that is mentioned in Cloth of Gold, but one of the characters is out for revenge because the bad guys in the show filmed his daughter making porno movies. See my review:

I think Mr. Mike is right. Sounds like Cloth Of Gold to me. Classic HFO has their share of kidnapping episodes. East Wind, Ill Wind Season 10 has a killer scuba diver but no ransom involved. The Capsule Kidnapping is one of the few episodes I've never seen. Piper, hope you continue to post on the forum. Sometimes, new and interesting questions are brought up for discussion. JC
by ringfire211 » Sun Jun 18, 2017 2:59 pmThe first thing I thought of was "The Devil and Mr. Frog" (season 2) in regards to the kidnapping episode. There's a father and ransom money on the beach at the end and the kindapper is wearing scuba gear and comes out of the ocean.
by Piper » Sun Jun 18, 2017 11:27 pmYes, I thought "The Devil and Mr. Frog," too. But I had seen that one and knew that no Asian businessman was involved. (Other than the great James Hong.)
I will post more frequently. I watched the show intermittently throughout it's run. I saw most of the episodes first-run in the third, fourth, and fifth seasons. Got away from it for a few years. Came back back around season nine and then intermittently toward the end. Always liked the show and a pleasure to be able to reach out to fellow fans.
