Classic Hawaii Five O Fans.
I see Mr. Mike has Nine Dragons as his FAV Classic HFO. Where do you put Nine Dragons as a Season 9 FAV or in a list of greatest Classic HFO episodes? There are strong points in the episode. The theft of the nerve gas was elaborate and always good seeing WO FAT. McG was tortured by Wo Fat and the snakes McG was kicking at was realistic. I guess one of the things I don't understand: Why didn't WO FAT just kill McG when he had him in his territory? I know HFO would have ended Season 9 if that had happened. WO Fat would have wanted McG to take the blame for poisoning the water but McG could have died when the boaters found him. This was an enjoyable episode with excellent photography. I moved Nine Dragons into my Top 10 episodes Classic HFO. What about you? John
by ringfire211 » Tue Sep 06, 2016 8:25 am"Nine Dragons" is probably the best Wo Fat episode (although both "Cocoon" and "And a Time to Die" are pretty close) but I wouldn't place it on my favorites list. There are simply too many other episodes that I prefer. Even from season 9 alone I prefer a handful over "Nine Dragons", like "A Capitol Crime", "Target-A Cop", the Jack Lord-directed "The Bells Toll at Noon", "Man in a Steel Frame". These are superb episodes!!

But the reason it is my favorite is because of the international aspect, as well as the presence of Wo Fat who tortures McGarrett most horribly and the musical score by Stevens.
Recently I anal-yzed a show from Kojak which also has a certain "epic" feel to it, even though that show doesn't leave New York City. Check it out here:

by John Chergi » Thu Apr 20, 2017 8:56 amNine Dragons definitely one of the most intriguing episodes. It was amazing Classic HFO could write creative and crisp episodes into Season 9. I loved Season 9 with Assault On The Palace and YES, MY DEADLY DAUGHTER! Some of my FAVS in that season. I thought Oldest Profession the episode with Char and the Massage Parlor was well-done too. Nine Dragons did remind me of a James Bond movie. I love the part when McG is pulled out of the water. The WO FAT episodes are some of the best. JC
