Watched it again ...it's been a while and I had the same reaction as Mike in his review - I disliked it less than the last time. In fact there's some great dialogue, with Danno and the developer on the golf course and of course the hippie filmaker... "You bug me man, you really bug me" ...even in a weak episode there's alway's some good stuff in there somewhere.
by John Chergi » Wed Jul 06, 2016 4:46 pmRick, I think there are plenty of questions in Six Kilos and The Big Kahuna but agree plenty of good things. I was sympathetic to Sam's plight and nobody wanted to listen. Thanks to McG & HFO for investigating. The Nephew and his wife did an excellent job of scaring Sam but they could not get his land. In that dark old house, they could have easily tripped Sam making it look like an accident. Similar to Journey Out Of Limbo. The Military Officer goes through elaborate plan of dummies and explosive stuff when he could have just shot the Chinese friend and leader. The Big Kahuna has some good points...Talking about Hawaii heritage and legends plus Kono had some good screen time. I liked that McG investigated and listened to the old man. The Nephew really let Sam down agreeing with the plan. The ending could have been better. I would give The Big Kahuna 4 stars on my 6 stars system.

by John Chergi » Thu Jul 07, 2016 11:25 pmRight about that Rick. I have been thinking about your post. How the writers could have made The Big Kahuna a better ending. Maybe, they could have Sam jumping off the mountain and McG grabbing him from behind before he falls hundreds of feet down. Or Sam hanging from the mountain's edge and McG and Danny pulling him back over. They the Nephew & the Wife should have just waited until Sam died a natural death. He didn't have much family or friends. The Nephew would have inherited everything I guess. Both Six Kilos and The Box were interesting closing episodes. This would make sense for a new show to get renewed and leave an impression with the audience.
