My 9 year old son has become a huge fan of Five-O since its airing on the Family Channel. I love to watch too -- it brings back great memories of growing up in the 70's. He wants to be Jack McGarret for Hallowe'en and his 6 year old brother wants to be Danno, They walk aroung the house in blue blazers with toy guns and walkie talkies and theit hair greased up high like Jack Lord, going "Book 'em Danno" all day. Thanks for the great Home Page -- we all really enjoyed visiting it.

After seeing the current fall television lineup, I'm really really glad that Hawaii Five-O is being shown again ! At least there's something worth watching on television. By the way, for anyone in the mid-Michigan area, Fox 66 is showing Hawaii Five-O at 1:00 PM weekdays. These episodes are also somewhat chopped up, but you can see bits that the Family Channel has cut out.

I saw all you commplain about what wasn't in five o whell than think about what you do get. I don't know about all you ladies but I think McGarrett (pardon the spelling) is the cutest actor out there . When I come home at night i force my dad or uncle to put the show on I just love seeing Jack Lord's face. One time I asked my mom to get for me for Christmas (as a joke). I sure wish I had Jack's "real" address so i could write to him and tell him what an awesome person he is.

The theme that plays during the opening scene of "The Finshing Touch" is one of the best! It plays throughout the episode (i.e., when the guy is making phony bonds). I think it also plays during "30,000 Rooms and I Have The Key". Of course, Family Channel took an axe to the episode (what's new?), completely omitting the girl's connection in the crime. It was about minute and a half. Did anyone else notice during the week of Sept. 15, the episode that aired wasn't the episode that was promoed at the end of the show?

Well, I, of course, love this site. As a kid growing up on Oahu, I would often see the production crew shooting scenes around chinatown and Honolulu in general. Today, the Family Channel is my link to the good old days, via Hawaii 5-0. It is great fun catching glimpses of local luminaries: Lippy Espinda, Danny Kaleikini, Carole Kai, etc., etc.. and of course great fun to see the multiple inconsistencies in the shooting, but for appearances sake, are used, since most haoles on da mainland don't know directions, locations and placement. Keep up da good hana, bruddahs!

I'm so glad the Family Channel started showing Hawaii Five-O. I briefly recall see ing the show when it was running. In the early 1980s however a couple of channels in my state started showing it. I was forced to take a semester off from college due to finances and had to live with my parents, and my home situation was not happy. I used to escape the turmoil by going in my room and watching Hawaii Five-O. I fell in love with the show that semester and was quite distressed when it went out of syndication. I will confess however that Danno was my favorite character. I liked his blue eyes and his crooked grin and boyish face. I liked Hawaii Five-O also because it was very black and white. Steve and Danno and the others were very clearly the good guys. In my opinion most cop shows today are very bad. The characters on Hawaii Five-O were good people. They were honest and upright. When the real world is so grey it's nice to watch a show where there are good guys and bad guys. Frankly I would trust Steve or Danno with my life before I trusted any of the cops on NYPD Blue. Well, that's enough babbling. I'm so tickled to have found this web page. It's so nice to know that I'm not the only fan of this great show. I don't think there will ever be another show like it.

Great Web Page!! I started watching 5-0 at the age of seven with my dad. Two years ago a local independent TV station started showing 5-0 episodes at 1:00am in the morning..."fire up the VCR". Thanks to the Family Channel I can see 5-0 again.

I DON'T HAVE TIME TODAY TO REALLY TALK ABOUT "MIKE'S" RATING SYSTEM. (If so, why bother with the following rant? -- MQ) THIS IS JUST TO WARN YOU MIKEY BOY, PREPARE TO BE TORCHED. YOU ARE SO FAR OFF BASE, IT'S LAUGHABLE!! EXAMPLES: "SAMAURAI" - 1 STAR (I DON'T CARE IF YOU LIVED IN JAPAN, ENOUGH WITH THE BUSHIDO CRAP. IT'S A GOOD EARLY EPISODE); "SINGAPORE FILES" - 4 STARS? THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST BORING EPISODES EVER, THERE'S NO CAST, AND THE DIALOGUE IS TERRIBLE; "TRICKS ARE NOT TREATS" 1&A HALF STARS -- EASILY YOUR BIGGEST BLUNDER, THIS TOLD US THAT YOUR ENTIRE RATING SYSTEM IS A JOKE. FOR GOD'S SAKE MAN, WHEN THIS WAS SHOT, THE JIVE THESE GUYS TALK WAS FUCKING REAL MAN, REAL! (In her book on Five-O, Karen Rhodes says of this episode: "the hour is marred by some of the most egregious racial stereotyping of the time, and by ridiculous macho posturing by the pimps in their outlandish attire.") THIS IS A TOP-5 EPISODE TO US AND YOU GIVE IT 1& A HALF STARS. IF WE EVER MEET YOU, WE'LL STRANGLE SOME SENSE INTO YOU, YOU FUCKIN' CLOWN! (Comments like this make me glad I don't live in Texas.) OTHER HORRIFIC BLUNDERS INCLUDE "BANAZAI PIPELINE" - 3 STARS (IT'S A TOP 30 EPISODE IDIOT, NOT 3 STARS); "RING OF LIFE" - 2 STARS (THIS IS THE SECOND WORST BLUNDER OF YOURS); "STEAL NOW, PAY LATER" - 2& A HALF STARS (SUCH A 4-STAR EPISODE); "HERE TODAY, GONE TONITE IS NOT A ONE STAR EPISODE. YOU'RE WAY TOO GIVING WITH YOUR 4-STARS, DUDE. "NINE DRAGONS IS #1? PLEASE MIKEY, IT'S LAUGHABLE. HOOKMAN IS AN EXCELLENT EPISODE, BUT NOT #2. WE ADMIRE, THE FACT THAT YOU HAVE LISTED ALL THE EPISODES OUT AND PROVIDE A LONG DESCRIPTION OF EACH, BUT HERE'S A HINT. FORGET ABOUT WHAT PHONE NUMBER APPEARS HERE AND HOW MANY TIMES THEY USE STOCK FOOTAGE THERE ... CONCENTRATE ON THE CHARACTERS AND THE THINGS THEY SAY AND OF COURSE THE MUSIC AND HOW IT FITS SCENES. DON'T FORGET THE TITLE ITSELF.IT PLAYS A BIG FACTOR. NOW OF COURSE, EVERYONE'S OPINION IS THEIR OWN, BUT YOU GAVE THE WRONG RATINGS TO MANY OF THE WRONG SHOWS. (I really think you are reading a bit too much significance into this site and my ratings.)
HERE'S OUR TOP-5:
1) THE VASHON TRILOGY (ALL 3 COUNT AS ONE)
(My rating on this = 4 stars)
2) ONE BIG HAPPY FAMILY
(3-1/2 stars)
3) THE YOUNG ASSASSINS
(3-1/2 stars)

5) ...AND THEY PAINTED DAISIES ON HIS COFFIN
(4 stars)
6) THE LISTENER
(3 stars)
7) DRAW ME A KILLER
(4 stars)
8) UPTIGHT
(3 stars)
9) THE JOKER'S WILD,MAN,WILD
(3-1/2 stars)
10) TIGER BY THE TAIL
(3-1/2 stars)
11) STEAL NOW, PAY LATER
(2-1/2 stars)
12) DEATH WITH FATHER
(3-1/2 stars)
13) FLASH OF COLOR, FLASH OF DEATH
(3 stars)
14) THE BOX
(3-1/2 stars)
15) SKINHEAD
(4 stars)
16) RING OF LIFE
(2 stars)
17) GOODNIGHT, BABY, TIME TO DIE
(3 stars)
18) THE BANZAI PIPELINE
(3 stars)
19) I'M A FAMILY CROOK--DON'T SHOOT
(4 stars)

(4 stars)
22) FOLLOW THE WHITE BRICK ROAD
(3 stars)
23) THE BELLS TOLL AT NOON
(4 stars)
24) NIGHTMARE IN BLUE
(4 stars)
25) BONES OF CONTENTION
(3 stars)
HON. MENTION: TROUBLE IN MIND,
(4 stars) KILL OR BE KILLED, (4 stars) RUN JOHNNY RUN (4 stars) & SEVERAL OTHERS. CHEW ON THAT. (Chew on what? Seems we only disagree on a few episodes out of those you have listed. And by the way, I think everyone would appreciate it if you get your Caps Lock key fixed.)

Okay, okay, no more rants about the Fam Channel - let's just be glad they're showing Five-0 at all! Yes, it makes reading the episode descriptions on this site a bit like reading the review for a great restaurant, then arriving and finding that half the entrees recommended in the review are not being served tonight. But a chopped Five-0 is better than none. Speaking of restaurants, there is one named "Wo Fat" in Honolulu. Which came first, the villain or the eatery?

When we lived in NH, I used to rearrange Girl Scout meetings so I could stay home and watch 5-0! Hardly ever missed an episode. Fabulous site, MQ! We, too, have noticed how choppy the episodes are on the Family Channel. It is still good, tho, to see the 5-0 team back on the air.

Not only the web and all Hawaii Five-O stories are great, but this GUESTBOOK too! We, the fans, could see "We aren't alone!" Thanks, Mike again!

Excellent website Mike... how can we repay you? (Cash donations are gratefully accepted. ";-) - MQ) Only things I'm worried about, since we fans are at the mercy of the Family Channel... are they really chopping these episodes into shreds, and we're missing a lot of the original intent? And are they not showing every episode in order? I've been taping each one since June, and there seems to be gaps compared to your episode list.. what gives? (If you have questions about the Family Channel's schedule and programming philosophy, please direct it to them at their WWW site which is http://www.famfun.com. I live in Canada, where I can't even access the U.S. Family Channel. - MQ) Once again, great work... is there more interest in sound clips? SG

In "The Listener" (Season 5, Episode #112), Radames Pera plays Bob Martinelli. I found no mention of this in "Oddities, Goofs, Trivia." (There is a limit as to how knowledgeable I can be... ";-) - MQ) Pera later was a regular cast member of the original Kung Fu TV series, playing young Caine. Also in the end credits of "The Listener", Lisa Pera (his mom?) is listed as Angela Martinelli.

Someone needs to tell the Family Channel to stop chopping the episodes up. They've been doing it every episode, but 2 recent cases in point were with Andy Griffith ("Don't Shoot...") and "The Listener". They cut out the best part when Cerebrus says "How's it feel to lick the boots of a full blown psych?" and then wags his tongue. Family Channel sucks, man.

Episode 112 (The Listener) had a scene that was deleted, in which Cerebrus made "breathing" noises when he threatened Eric Fowler, and the breathing noises were disgusting in which a man and a woman are in bed. The snow scene in the episode "Mr. Winkler" was actually shot in Hawaii, and so was the law library.

In "Will the Real Mr. Winkler Please Die", McGarret sits in an office in Wash., DC and watches snow falling. Later in the Law Library (presumably still in DC) you can see palm trees out the window. How the seasons change!

Wzup with the picture of an elderly Jack Lord? This is why all of the malicious tabloid media said that he was ill and dying.
