"Thanks" is not enough to say for the return to view my favorite show "Hawaii Five O". Every show was the best and will be again in viewing. The acting and actors were suburb. "Thanks" again.

It's nice to finally, clearly see on DVD our 1968 Ford Fairlane 500 convertible when it was new back in 1968. Ford Motor Company provided all of the Fords for the series. In 1968, all of the Ford cars were delivered to Honolulu Ford at 711 Ala Moana Blvd. Mr. Bernard Oseransky would take delivery of the cars. Our Fairlane 500 convertible was assembled in Loraine, Ohio with a VIN less than 15, and was the only Fairlane of its configuration ever shipped to Hawaii by Ford for use on the show. The Fairlane was Ford Diamond Blue, with a white canvas top, two-tone blue vinyl bucket seat interior, a console and floor shifter bolted to a C-6 automatic transmission. The car came with an "S" code 325HP GT 390c.i.V-8 engine with the optional factory chrome dress up kit. Power factory steering, disc-brakes and power windows completed the package. The car's history has been fully documented. The car was filmed in 5 first season Hawaii Five-O episodes: "Tiger by the Tail", "Deathwatch", "24 Karat Kill", "No Blue Skies" and "By the Numbers". Jack Lord, Sal Mineo and Marj Dusay were some of the personalities filmed with the car. To keep the show on the air, Jack Lord sold many items including his dressing room trailer to raise cash. On location film production was very expensive. Jack Lord's personal secretary speculated that our Fairlane may have been sold to raise funds for the show. It's nice to have a part of the history of one of my all time favorite shows. And, yes the first season episodes on DVD are outstanding!

absolutely phenominal!! color and sound were great and its nice to see it the way we watched it in the 60's, 70's and early 80's. I was fortunate to go to Hawaii and watch some of the filming of the show The 100,000 nickel. I met Jack and stayed around long enough to see the particular detail that he demanded from everyone on the cast. This is why I feel the show was so successful . Way to go to all those involved because for people for myself who watched the show from the beginning, you who are now just watching for the first time can really feel the rush!! that we old fans felt for 12 years. Mahalo again and to all you newcomers to the show enjoy!!! Aloha

What a great show! I was reading the Honolulu Star-Bulletin online and say an article entitled "Hawaii 5-0 Sold out" and clicked and saw all the DVD's flew off the shelves in Hawaii immediately. I jumped in the car down to Costco AND THERE THEY WERE! For 29.99! I love them - season 2 will also be bought!

Hawaii Five 0 was my favorite TV show...I visited Honolulu in June 1981...hard to believe the show had been off the air for such a short time...to be able to watch the 1st season again is fantastic! I can't wait for Season 2 & more to come.

St. Louis, MO U.S.A. - Thursday, March 22, 2007 at 04:31:31 (PST)
Talk about a blast from the past! It was so cool to be able to watch season 1 straight through one show after the other. I can't wait (I'll have to though) for season 2. Watching Hawaii Five-0 makes me remember who I was then and why I loved the show then and now. And a lot of actors who later became familiar on other shows appeared on Hawaii Five-0 early in their careers.

The other day my wife was dragging me around Target when, being a "car guy", I set off in search of anything automotive related in the store to kill some time. As I walked past the audio/video department, there it sat on an end cap: Hawaii 5-0...the entire first season! I remember the TV series from when I was a kid, and it was a favorite, but I have not seen it for years. It premiered in the fall of 1968 so was obviously filmed earlier that year. (one scene had a June 1968 calander on the wall) Now, besides having the greatest theme song of any TV show (period)and being entertaining ("Book'em Danno...") the filming in the streets knocks me out...every row of parked cars, every parking lot, every "tail" involves mostly mid to late 60's cars...at the time they were just late model cars...but they are everywhere...and just seeing all that vintage iron stops me in my tracks. For example, a cab is hailed at an airport and a new maroon Olds Vista Cruiser wagon, complete with a roof rack and taxi signs, pull over to pick up...or Chin tails a bad guy who is driving a gorgeous new Coupe DeVille convertible, red with white interior and top down, of course...I am like dying, scene after scene, and my wife is like "whats wrong"...And as the credits state, all of 5-0s cars are provided by Ford...Galaxies and Fairlaines are everywhere. McGarret drives a black Mercury and even the mobile crime scene unit is a vintage Econoline van... Hawaii 5-0 is a "trip"... thats the other thing thats great about the show... the portrayal of the hippie sub-culture...the dialogue 40 years later is hilarious...They better come out with a Season 2 soon as I am burning through Season 1. The cars alone are worth the price of admission.

Like many, I have waited for this release forever! Though I'm still viewing Season 1, I am quite pleased on what CBS Video has put together. Cocoon was a real treat as was it's extended intro. The MacAuthor extra was sweet. Maybe CBS will add the original soundtrack as a companion c.d. on a future set. Regardless, I'll be purchasing all 12 seasons.

Espero a 2a temporada do filme anciosamente. Pena que para participar do fã club tem que fazer tudo em inglês e não sei como fazer.

Just received my DVD set of Season 1 this weekend. The transfers look great! Even though the tapes I ran off 18 years ago are in pretty good shape, the detail on the new transfers are really impressive. What's the status of "Bored" in the second season set? Could you please post an e-mail address so that we can send a - gentle - reminder that we do want the second season complete? Along with our thanks for finally bringing this out, of course.

Brownsville, TX USA - Monday, March 19, 2007 at 04:02:37 (PST)
I'm 47 and fondly remember watching Hawaii Five-0 as a child. Needless to say I loved it. All I can say is why has it taken so long to bring to DVD? Hawaii Five-0 (and Magnum PI) was my reason for my first visit to the islands in 1986. The video quality is almost di-def when viewed on my rear projection big screen TV. I couldn't be happier. Also the opening credits and theme music would have to be one of (if not) the best in the history of TV. If you love Hawaii Five-0 you won't be sorry with this purchase. My only hope is further seasons come out in quick succession. Mahalo and ALOHA.
Melbourne, VIC Australia - Sunday, March 18, 2007 at 22:52:17 (PST)
What a treat to come after work to pop in the first season DVD and watch McGarrett and the rest of Five-O tackle characters and problems such as Big Chicken, Benny Apa, Bubonic Plague and those pesky bars of gold inside fish!

Elco, PA USA - Friday, March 16, 2007 at 12:59:43 (PST)
It was SO great to get the official DVDs, as I have over 100 Hawaii Five-O shows taped on VHS (and the quality is "junk" as we say here in Hawaii.) And I can't wait for them to release more episodes. I am happy to say that I saw them filming many times while I lived on Oahu since moving there in 1970, and once saw Jack Lord shopping at a local market, dressed in a pure white outfit, wide-brimmed hat as well, looking quite statuesque. My favorite personal memory of the show, however, was when I was hiking into Diamond Head with our dog one day. Suddenly a limo came screeching into Diamond Head through the tunnel, racing to meet a helicopter that suddenly zoomed into view, with one or two people bolting from the car with their head ducked down, and then getting on board the copter with it then zooming off! I stood there stunned, wondering if I had just witnessed some sort of crime taking place! Then I saw the gang with the cameras, etc. under the trees, and knew that it was just Five-O shooting a scene! By the way, does anyone know which episode that was from, or if it even made it into a show? Does any of that description ring a bell? Aloha.

I was at Wal Mart just after midnight on the date of release in order to get my DVD set before any of the local yokels got their grubby paws on it. Got mine right out of the box!!! Untouched by human hands except for my own. The set awaits unopened... I am meeting with the INFAMOUS Marty Smith (See archived comment entry from 17 September 1997) on April 10th for a formal "breaking of the seal". Madness shall ensue... Beer will be abused... And yes, the cops will probably be called... Nobody watches Five-O like we do... Oh it's going down, brother! 24 straight hours of non-stop Five-O-etry!!!!

Hawaii Five O is a must buy DVD. The music is enjoyable. The Episodes with Jack Lord & James McArthur are great. I hope that they come out with Season 2 and additional seasons very soon. After purchasing this DVD, I can now understand why it sold out immediately in Hawaii.
Bayside, NY USA - Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at 04:17:18 (PST)
Am I in heaven, or what! I've been watching reruns on station KDOC in L.A., and I never realized how much they sliced up the shows to stick in extra commercials until I saw the originals on DVD! The wife and I are planning our next cruise to Hawaii, in no small part because of the release of these shows. What a treat! When I first watched them back in 1968, we still had a b&w TV. And wow — how the area around the Aloha Tower has changed since 1968, to say nothing of the rest of the place. And has anyone ever noticed that the good guys drove Ford cars and the baddies drove GM? Aloha, everyone!

'Cocoon' looks wonderful. I had forgotten about the different opening... Jack looks menacing when his name is listed! I am very disappointed the regular show opening does not look better. For television's greatest show introduction and theme, it should look crystal clear. I hope it looks better on future sets. Bring on the next 11 seasons!!!

I walked over to the mall by me on Tuesday March 6 to buy the DVD's at FYE Movies, which is the only DVD store at the mall. I couldn't find the box set anywhere so I asked the clerk. He said they sold out. I said "Already?", and he replied that they only sent the store 2 copies. Unbelievable. I finally found it at Best Buy days later when I had a chance to get there.

I see that Hawaii Five-0 is currently ranked 22nd in DVD sales at Amazon, not bad for a 7-DVD set of a program which started its run nearly 40 years ago. In fact, it's ranked #3 among Amazon's top-selling boxed sets.

This DVD set is awesome! The sound is great and the remastered visuals are the best I've seen. It almost looks like Hi-Def, it's that sharp. When the graphics popped up on the screne and the intro music cranks up, the big wave rolls...just great to see it all again! If you liked or loved this show as I have, BUY IT!

I am 44 years old and grew up watching "Hawaii Five-O" with my Dad. I have been to Hawaii 4 times, and will make my fifth trip this December. I bought my copy of the DvD on Tuesday at Best Buy and I must say that the picture quality and sound are so great that I feel as though I am watching episodes in first run. Thanks Paramount and here's hoping for a season 2 release very soon. Aloha
Houston, Texas United States - Thursday, March 08, 2007 at 09:06:18 (PST)
I picked up the set after work on Tuesday. I have watched three of the episodes so far and the video and audio quality are excellent. The shows clock in at about 51 minutes so they are complete. The extra, a show made for Hawaiiain TV in 1996 was fun and informative. Hopefully Season 2 (with the "lost" episode Bored, she hung herself) will be out soon.

Amazing and worth the wait. I could listen to the intro a million times. A great 40th B-Day present to myself so yeah I was 6 months when they aired Cocoon! About 18 months ago I had James MacArthur playing golf at my course in Md. and got a great picture with him in his "I Gotchya Pose" with his signature. I wish I could post it. Long live Five-0!

ALOHA! I bought my copy yesterday while on vacation on Florida, so I couldn't wait to get home last night to check out the quality. I was not disappointed. The transfer is very clean and the colors are gorgeous! I'm happy to admit that both video and audio are better than I expected. I don't know how much useable Five-0-related material is out there, but I would love to see lots of extras on the future releases. Many thanks for maintaining this wonderful site, Mike. MAHALO! Bill

I just purchased mine yesterday while on my lunch break...from Borders for $49.99 minus a 20% discount. When I got home from work, watched the 2 hour pilot Cocoon and thoroughly enjoy it! The color is just fabulous and JL is so handsome!! Watched the pilot with my husband and he even said that it brought back memories of watching it while he was growing up in Massachusetts! Also, enjoyed watching Memories of Hawaii Five-0 with all the interviews of the cast and crew members. Hoping that future seasons will also come out on DVD.

I had forgotten just how much I loved this show! Can't wait to watch each episode. Now 'this' is what I call a police show! McGarrett doesn't need a computer to solve crimes. Mike, your site has been THE guide for all things H5O. So a big 'Thank You" for all your effort here. I was nine when the show was cancelled and only knew it as the show that my grandmother would stop her daily chores to watch on the local Miami affiliate back in the late 1980s (she was quite taken with Jack Lord). I would sometimes watch it, but it wasn't until 2004 when I watched "Is This Any Way to Run a Paradise?" and "Bait Once, Bait Twice" on the Hallmark Channel that the show really "clicked" with me. It's a breath of fresh air because while I had seen many, many episodes of shows like "Barnaby Jones", "Cannon", "Quincy M.E." and the like, H5O has a freshness about it that makes it better than all the rest.

I have waited for so long to see Hawaii Five-O come out on DVD and soon I'll have that first set. I pre-ordered mine and I am so looking forward to seeing episodes no longer cut up. Hawaii Five-O is still an outstanding show. Here's hoping we'll see more of the series available before the year is out. Aloha and everyone enjoy the first season of memories!!!!

With tomorrow, March 6th, being the release date, I hope that everyone had placed their pre-orders into the various places you can order with. I know I've already placed mine. It's been a long time waiting for the show to finally start coming out in complete formats and all the episodes for the first season. I only hope that they will continue to release all the other seasons soon. I also think it's great that they are celebrating the release of the DVD's at the Illikai this coming Friday, March 9th and that so many from the show will be there. What a memoriable day that will be.

I am excited about the release of hawaii five-0 and hope that future seasons will be relased every few months. I also will get to see all the shows now instead of the ones that are only in the rerun package. Hopefully with this release the movie will be made finally after all these years of talk. Maybe also someone perhaps tvland will start running the show in their area as it isn't availabe in the area i live. I have preorderd the series and can't wait to it arrives Aloha
