I've got a question concerning the release of a soundtrack. What if the soundtrack/score was re-recorded? Would you still have the same issues to deal with that are currently stopping it. I have purchased wonderful CDs of classic horror music that was all redone and the sound is probably better than the original. The objective is to match as closely as possible to the original. Any ideas??

With the release of the DVD's, I was wondering if we can get a soundtrack label to release the original Hawaii Five-0 TV scores on CD - boy, would this be great, havng the scores by Morton Stevens, Don B. Ray, Richard Shores and Bruce Broughton. I'm sure there is enough interest here for this project. There are some record labels that deal with soundtracks only, such as INTRADA.COM, FILMSCOREMONTHLY.COM & BUYSOUNDTRAX.COM. Perhaps, we can all write to these labels to get them interested, as well - what do you think? Thanks... [I brought this question up with an outfit which reissues soundtracks, and the spokesman there said that (a) CBS is impossible to deal with and (b) EMI wants too much money for the LP. - MQ]

OK,if anyone knows James McCarther, I would like to know if even has heard if Five-O will be made into a movie. There was a lot of talk back three or four years ago, nothing happened except Dreamworks wanted to take control, George ito said no. After all that nothing happened! Maybe Rose Freeman can shed some light if a movie is in the works. I wonder who would play Wo Fat in the movie, if it was made. Have you all purchased Season 4 yet? If not, buy it today. We have to keep CBS pushing Season out. Book Em Dano,

Well said, Don! We should all just enjoy the fact that we can relive memories of Five-0 by watching them on TV or DVD's!

~ The 'Hawaii Five-O' movie has been in the planning stage for a very long time now. Undoubtedly, there are too many problems with it, or we would have seen it by now. Personally, I don't think I'd be interested in watching it. The only part that I would find appealing would be the scenery and beside that, today's actors wouldn't be able to capture the aura of the original productions. Actors nowadays are too much into themselves and how they are going to look on 'ET', 'Inside Edition', or 'Access Hollywood', OR to have a platform to express their political views. I think that things concerning 'Five-O' should remain as just the TV series that we love so much was. There will never be another Jack Lord, Kam Fong, Zulu, Herman Wedemeyer, Richard Denning, or ANY of the fine actors that portrayed the characters that comprised 'Hawaii Five-O'. I'd hate to see anyone even try to step into those shoes! Let's just leave PERFECTION alone! ~ Be(ing) There, ALOHA! ~

Right. Ford is too old, too type-casted, and I have a feeling that there will truly never be a good replacement for an outstanding series. There was one remark, a few back, where someone mentioned the guy who appears in the CBS series Criminal Minds. He does fit the personality and profile, but can a supporting cast really be found. There's no doubt there are qualified writers who could write a good movie for Five-O, but I've just seen too many attempts to remake movies off old tv series which fail. They cost too much, and two many chiefs have the say so in production. Nevertheless, Hawaii Five-O will remain a classic whether or not a movie is ever made. I'm glad too that there are so many fans. PS: Has anyone ever thought of contacting Danno (James Mcarthur) to get his opinion as to the reality of such a movie, or who he would think might make a good cast? I've seen some brief references, but nothing definite.

Harisson FOrd got too much grey to play McG. Time to think outside the box, give the role to an unknown brown-skinned Hawaiian who possesses some of McG's best qualities. Update the cast and show, make it fit into modern times, and blaze a new path like the original show did all those years ago. I like to think Jack would give the thumbs-up on this. He is now a man of the people, a Hawaiian himself in spirit and deed.

This was one of my favorite TV shows back in the 60's. I have seasons 1,2 &3 and can't wait to get the next. The actors on the show were great!! I was sad to hear when Jack Lord passed away. He would be so proud to know there are so many fans still today. Keep the DVD'S coming, CBS!!!

Hi Diane, thank you for the backing me up that Harrison Ford would be a good Steve McGarrett to play the main roll. I know George Ito was thinking about making the movie, but seems that Dreamworks wanted to make a change to the script. Not sure what the status of the movie is today, but I think it would be very successful if its done properly. I have writen a script that would be action packed for Five-O to solve. Now that we know Season 5 will be out sometime end of November mid December time frame we can all start looking forward to the DVD. I have pre-ordered my Season 4 through Amazon, everyone should order it now, because you get a price break when pre-order it a head of time. The more people who keep buying Hawaii Five-O DVD's CBS will keep making the other Season available for us fans. One other thing! I have taken the drama music from the show made it into ring tones. So, far people asked where I got it from, I say Hawaii Five-O

I'm not sure Harrison Ford would be the best choice for a movie, ut I also think that Hawaaii Five-o is one of those classics that can't really be remade into a movie after all these years. Many old shows have been made into movies. Some did well, others just proved you should leave well enough alone. Thank goodness we still have access to all the original shows!

I share the enthusiasm for H50. It's remarkable how well the show holds up after 40 years. it's as good, if not better than anything on TV today. I own Seasons 1-3 and can't wait for the rest.

Just wanted to let everyone out in Five-O Land know that I heard CBS will be releasing Season #5 sometime in end of November mid December of this year. This is the fifth person that has told me this information. Looks like CBS is trying to release three a year. Does snyone know when the Hawaii Five-O Movie will be released. I think they should use Harrison Ford to play the main part of McGarrett.

I used to really enjoy the original series and then, by chance, actually stayed at a golf resort on Oahu which was used in one (or more?) episodes. It was fun to discover this afterwards when I was just watching a rerun episode and saw the pool area along side the poolside resturant where we ate every night. George Clooney would be a good selection for the part of Steve McGarret, although I have to admit, I miss the original actors in all of my early TV days.

I was only 15 when the show began, and as with many of the shows from the 1960's and on, they all bring back such fond memories of the good old days. This website truly does an outstanding job of representing Hawaii Five-O! I was so devastated to read about the fate of Jack Lord. I never knew anything about his life after the show, except that people mentioned he had gotten old fast. Well, he was nearly 50 when the show began, and he was in good shape and a great actor. But to read about the disease that robbed his mind and destroyed him, was heartbreaking! Most sad, as was written by one of the actors, that his lack of friends left him a very lonely man, except for the blessing of a faithful wife. My wife suffers from Huntington's disease, slightly different, but nonetheless a brain degenerating condition that is genetic and terminal. I take care of her full time 24/7. So, Hawaii Five-O is a great show, it also reminds us to enjoy the moment of our lives, and never take life for granted. Life is precious, short, and the greatest riches one can have are faithful friends and a loving spouse! Thanks for such a great website! I watch reruns each weekday here, but now I view the show a little more differently after knowing so many sad facts. Horrible diseases! Let's book-em Danno!

In an earlier post below, I asked about the two most common continuity errors committed on H 5-0, but I haven't seen any takers yet. Come on, where are the hard core fans. I'll give it another week or two, then post the answers (IMHO). Can't wait for season 4.

The year Hawaii 5-0 made its debut, my husband and I were married in the USAF (we were both in the Service as officers) and after a year were assigned to Vietnam. We watched the show often before leaving for overseas. When we returned 3 years later, we were so happy to find out that Hawaii 5-O was still on! What a fantastic dramatic crime show; Jack Lord and the other actors did a magnificent job in portraying the episodes, and showing the beautiful scenery of Hawaii and its islands. I was deeply saddened to learn of Jack Lord's passing in 1998. I will always remember him as "boss" and saying "book him Danno." This truly is a classic t.v. series and I am purchasing those episodes that have been made for DVD. Thank you CBS, Jack Lord & everyone who contributed to this classic! Most of all, thank you Marie Lord, for sharing your husband with the world! God bless!

I love every episode. I love seeing Oahu and the rest of Hawaii as it was when I was watching these for the first time on TV when I lived on the mainland as a boy, dreaming of being a policemen in Hawaii. Now, I'm a Detective for the Army on Oahu, a dream come true! I hope the Five O gang would be proud! Aloha!

V for Vashon is the greatest trilogy, of any type, in the history of organized mankind!...I watched it this time last year on VHS and can not wait to see it cleaned up on DVD, especially the scene where the father is picked up by helicopter on the beach the colors will be outstanding Murdered………………But Avenged. Where does this appear? "my son is dead…dead and you killed him" "no….I shot him!…you killed him.. You and his Grandfather a long time ago!

Yes, Time Warner is carrying a "retro" channel in its digital package here in Raleigh that shows H 5-0 episodes at 10:00pm every weeknight. I'm trying to resist watching them so I won't "spoil" the S-4 release this summer. Mostly rewatching episodes from seasons 1-2 now. While this was the best cop show ever (no offense to Law & Order or NYPD Blue or Hill Street Blues fans), I still get a kick out of spotting the same two continuity errors that occur in almost every episode. Can anyone guess what they are? As for future releases, bring on the Vashons!! When is that....season 5??? "McGarrett DIES!!!"
